Elections soon in line with people's will: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said that elections will be held very soon, reflecting the will of the people.

"We are always hopeful. An interim government has been established, and we are all cooperating. Arrangements for elections will be made very soon as per the people's wishes," he told reporters while paying tribute to the martyred intellectuals of 1971 at the Martyred Intellectuals Cemetery in Mirpur.

"Through free, fair, and impartial elections, the people will have the opportunity to elect their representatives, form the parliament, and establish the government," he added.

In response to a journalist's query, Fakhrul criticised the Awami League, accusing it of losing connection with the people.

"Those who have distanced themselves from the people, killed democracy, suppressed pro-democracy and freedom-loving individuals, and sold out our independence have naturally become isolated. That is why they are absent today," he added.
